about me.

I graduated from La Salle Victoria University in 2009. During my studies, I participated in several design contests, often as part of class assignments encouraged by our professors. One of the most notable achievements was winning first place at the state level and third place at the national level in the 2006 National Post Stamp Design Competition. The award included flight tickets to Mexico City, a cash prize, and recognition in the official design record book, with the ceremony held at the historic Post Office Palace. Experiences like this fueled my passion for design and solidified my commitment to the field early on in my academic journey.

After graduating, I worked as a Junior Graphic Designer in local print shops in my hometown. These roles gave me hands-on experience in preparing files for large-format printing, including billboards, facades, and road signs. I also developed valuable client-facing skills, learning how to communicate effectively with customers, an essential aspect of the job not typically covered in formal education.

In 2011, I joined Visual Design, a Monterrey-based agency contracted by the state government in my hometown. Hired as a Senior Graphic Designer, I collaborated closely with the state’s communication department to fulfil a wide range of official design needs. My responsibilities included high-visibility projects with national reach, such as the design of the state’s annual government report and the official car plate design (each Mexican state has a unique license plate). After the administration’s term ended, I relocated to Monterrey, N.L., Mexico’s third-largest city, to pursue new opportunities.

When I moved to Monterrey, I was starting from scratch. Coming from a small town where previous roles came through recommendations, I had never formally applied for a job before. Initially, I began freelancing while searching for steady work. A few months later, I secured a part-time position at The Blue People, where I worked as a UX/UI Designer, creating visuals for apps and responsive websites. One of our projects involved developing an app for the government. As my contract neared its end, I began exploring new opportunities. Shortly after, I was invited to rejoin the government sector, this time at a higher level, as a Senior Graphic Designer. I accepted the offer and resumed similar responsibilities to my previous government role, but with expanded scope and visibility.

While I felt professionally fulfilled, I was missing a sense of adventure. I’d always been curious about other cultures and languages, and had started learning German with a goal of reaching a B2 level. My instructors recommended spending time in Germany to accelerate my learning. At a travel agency, I was informed that I would need a B2-level English certificate to proceed—something I didn’t yet have. That requirement led me to Ireland, where I’ve been living and thriving for the past seven years.
