Bye Bye APP

01 / research and define the problem

Bye-Bye App was created as part of a college assignment. The task was to design an app or website that competes with services for booking flights, hotels, and car rentals. I built an app, as mobile platforms are increasingly the go-to for booking travel.

To identify user pain points, I interviewed ten people about their experiences with booking travel. Skyscanner emerged as my main competitor. The app's goal was clear: simplify the booking process by eliminating unnecessary steps. I created user personas and a customer journey map to highlight key issues. This research allowed me to align the design with the task goal of developing a fast, intuitive, and user-friendly app.

02 / concept development, prototyping and testing.

Although this was an individual project, we worked in teams for brainstorming, feedback, and analysis via Zoom. The lecturer assigned us to different breakout rooms with five people per group, which was a great opportunity to receive diverse perspectives. Collaborating with others helps to better understand how different people think and approach a task.

UX

I began by sketching wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes. This step is crucial, as it lays the foundation for the entire project. Without a solid structure, the chances of success diminish. I received valuable feedback during presentations, which helped me to refine the design. Once the foundational design was set, the next steps felt more straightforward, thanks to my background as a graphic designer. I integrated UX design principles into my work and created a prototype in Figma. This was my first time using this software, it was a bit challenging at first (since I’m more familiar with Adobe Creative Suite), I quickly got the hang of it.
